On a mission to fix the protection gap with Benjamin Hay, Co-founder, Collective Benefits

“People work across multiple platforms. The nature of their relationship with work and the providers of work has changed”, says Benjamin.

The former lawyer and director of strategy & operations at Virgin Unite has taken his passion for social impact and co-founded Collective Benefits. The business has developed a range of financial and digital products to help solve the problem of financial wellness for independent workers, partnering with some of the largest & most forward-thinking on demand platforms, to serve 200,000 freelancers and gig workers across 18 countries.

Whether it’s sickness, accident, injuries, independent workers have known risks. “The best way to solve a known risk is to underwrite it”, says Benjamin, “So insurance was a fantastic product for us to start with.”

Benjamin talks about underwriting and reaching a new demographic, working in a different way as well as clarifying how the benefits work for people who work across multiple platforms and have multiple jobs.

As a fast-paced growth business, Collective is looking for purpose-driven missionaries who want to make a social impact.

“There is a huge opportunity to fix the protection gap in financial wellness for a rapidly growing and significant demographic.”
